Our Senior Academic Staff
Associate Professor Julie Ross  Julie Ross graduated from Edinburgh College of Art, where she proceeded to run her own Architectural Glass Design practice in Scotland. In 1996, she moved to Singapore, where she held the position of Director of 3D Studies at a renowned design institution until 2001. During this period of time, she was responsible for the areas of Glass, Ceramics, Sculpture and Jewellery, within the Department of 3D Studies.
In 2001, she moved to Nairobi, Kenya – to pursue her Masters’ in Glass Design. During this period of time, she was a part-time lecturer in the Department of Product Design at the University of Nairobi. On her return to Singapore, she pursued her career as an independent Glass maker and Consultant and also as a part-time Lecturer at NUS Centre for the Arts.
In October 2003, she joined Raffles Design Institute in Singapore as the Programme Director for the Department of 3D Design – where she built up the specialist areas of Product, Jewellery and Furniture Design within the Department of 3D Design. Her work has been regularly exhibited in Singapore and Internationally. Commissioned work can be seen in Hoofddorp, Holland, Edinburgh, London, Hanoi, Singapore and Nairobi, Kenya. Nathan Ober  Nathan Ober is a digital media artist from the USA and currently the Programme Coordinator for Interactive Media Design and Visual Communication at Raffles Institute of Higher Education, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Nathan graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 2003 with a BFA in Time-Based Media Studies.
He has many years of industry experience in the fields of video production, animation, graphic design, web design, photography, motion graphics, sound effect design, multi-media installation and performance art. Commercially, he has worked with clients such as: ESPN, NBC, The Ohio State University, and the Memorial Tournament PGA tour. His video work has been screened at the San Francisco Short Film Festival, The Wexner Center for the Arts, Silver Lake Film Festival in Los Angeles CA, Things To Come Sci-Fi Film Festival in Brooklyn NY, and released in the Journal of Short Film.
In 2006, Nathan Ober joined Noreign Studios as an Art Director/Lead Flash Designer. After one year he collaborated with Promowest Productions, where his talents were utilized to develop motion graphics for the television show Promowest Live.
In 2009, Nathan moved to New Delhi India to head up the Interactive Media Design and Visual Communication departments at Raffles Millennium International, which ultimately lead to his arrival in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
His work has been regularly exhibited in art galleries across the United States with over 30 group exhibits and solo shows. He continues to create art and has a strong passion for teaching design.
Programme Coordinator Interactive Media Design and Visual Communication
Andreea Lonhardt Muresan  Andreea Lonhardt adds a wealth of professionalism to the Fashion Design programmes at Raffles Institute of Higher Education. Andreea comes armed with experience of Europe's premier fashion capitals, design theory from her studies in Budapest and drafting skills from her work in Bucharest. Having graduated from the renowned Faculty of Decorative Art and Design as well as the School of Fine Arts Ladea Romulus in Romania, she went on to work with SC Piera as a senior designer in conceptual development, specialising in lingerie.
As her job scope widened to encompass increased managerial responsibility, Andreea worked also in research and development, fashion trend analysis, CAD, pattern cutting techniques, client liaison, market identification, fabric specification and print design. Ultimately she coordinated international fashion shows and eventually produced the Intimmi Underwear Collection by Lonhardt.
Andrea’s diverse skills attracted the attention of Amas and Lanys Impex, under whom she travelled extensively around Europe, most notably to Paris and Milan.
Andreea has also worked in costume design for theater and stage, designing for ‘Macbett’ by Eugen Ionesco, ‘The Bald Soprano’ and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Raffles is proud to have Andreea share her design expertise and international experience with the Fashion Design students and provide academic support to the team.
